The company ranked in the top five per cent of competing packages in the competition

MARLTON, NJ (May 19, 2022) – T.H.E.M., an industry-leading packaging company and second-generation family business, has been named a Diamond Finalist in the 2021 DOW Packaging Innovations Awards competition for its design and development of the Advanced Hand Sanitizer sachet, ranking among the top 10 of 200 competing product designs. T.H.E.M. partnered with Amazon Basic Care to produce this revolutionary product.

“We are thrilled to be recognized for this innovative package design,” said Neil Kozarsky, CEO of Technical Help in Engineering and Marketing (T.H.E.M.). “Our engineering, innovations, and operations teams worked seamlessly with our client to create a new solution for single-use hand sanitizer. The final product melded convenience, sustainability, and efficiency in a highly consumer-friendly single-use package. Being acknowledged by DOW speaks to the ability of our team to transform customer desires into winning solutions.”

The company’s hand sanitizer package design utilizes 60 per cent less material per sachet compared to similarly-sized sachets with 1.2 mL of product, and it combines a consumer-friendly format, easy-open film, and a unique formulation that has a three-year shelf life with no loss of potency. This allows consumers to carry moisturizing hand sanitizer gel in incredibly lightweight packaging that won’t burst under pressure or leak in a bag or pocket.

The production of such packaging is only possible with Sanko Stick Machine lines, according to T.H.E.M, which is the sole distributor of Sanko machinery in North America. The Japanese packaging equipment features multi-lane dry and liquid machines and enables brands to create single-serve products at an expeditious rate.

The DOW Packaging Innovation Awards have recognized packaging projects for more than three decades to acknowledge the best in sustainable innovation. Eligible products must excel in at least one criterion in technological advancement, responsible packaging, and enhanced user experience, according to its website. DOW announced the Diamond Award winner and finalists, including T.H.E.M., this spring.
